**Design Manager Role**
The Design Manager will play a key role in enhancing our design activities by leading, managing, and developing a team of Design Engineers/CAD Technicians.
This includes implementing training and coaching programs to meet operational requirements, as well as managing recruitment, onboarding, performance management, retention, employee engagement, and learning development within the Design team.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage and lead Design Engineers/CAD Technicians across multiple design projects
• Problem solving and resolution of coordination and design roadblocks
• Develop and maintain drawing standards and specifications
• Coordinate LCBP standards and inspection processes
• Create and update Design SOPs, manuals, and procedures to align with legislative, regulatory, company, and client requirements
• Schedule and plan upcoming works, providing updates to relevant departments
• Track and monitor designs, updating project management schedules and systems as necessary
• Implement standard design tools to improve project execution efficiency
• Support Design Engineers in preparing for internal and external audits and inspections
• Coach, mentor, and train employees in all aspects of design and related functions
• Oversee recruitment, onboarding, performance management, retention, employee engagement, and learning development for team members
• Develop a Workforce Plan to ensure timely and budget-friendly staffing requirements
• Review and amend job descriptions/key competencies for each role within the Department
• Analyze training needs, planning and delivering training including staff onboarding
• Ensure technical competence is developed within the team and efficient work practices are maintained
• Support and mentor team members on building people capability, managing people risk, and ensuring the employee experience enables them to achieve their goals
• Demonstrate accountability and ownership for team performance, working with the team on deliverables and liaising with functional management to resolve issues
• Deliver internal and external communications to all stakeholders in a timely manner
• Promote and maintain a positive HSEQ culture and safe work environment
• Engage in Company-led initiatives while promoting best practice standards
• Ensure accurate, timely, and legible written documentation, keeping records up to date at all times
