The Role
We are looking for someone who is highly motivated to work in a challenging but enjoyable role managing a varied portfolio of projects within the Research and Innovation Directorate. As a key member of the Directorate Finance Team, you will be responsible for the provision of a professional financial management service to key stakeholders across Health, Academia and Industry.
Duration, Location and Working Pattern
This is a permanent post working full‑time hours (36 hours per week).
Hours will be worked Monday to Friday.
You will be based at Dykebar Hospital; the role is remote‑friendly but regular presence at the Dykebar office is required.
Key Responsibilities
You will be competent in the management of financial information, financial reporting, budgetary control processes and governance arrangements. You will advise finance and non‑finance managers on matters relating to their own area, providing detailed guidance and support. You will plan, prioritise and manage your own workload, supervise a team to ensure key deliverables and deliver to strict timelines within a dynamic environment.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Professional accountancy qualification or equivalent experience.
Significant experience of working within the NHS or an equivalent large complex organisation.
Competent in the management of financial information, financial reporting, governance arrangements, budget setting processes and budgeting control.
Excellent IT skills with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and specialist knowledge of financial computer systems.
Supervisory skills and the ability to engage diplomatically with staff at all levels, both within and outside the NHS.
Effective written and oral communication skills, good presentation skills and strong problem‑solving and change‑management abilities.
Ability to work on your own initiative and to manage a varied portfolio of projects.
