Senior Recruitment Consultant
My client provides electrical power engineering services to the industrial, electrical utilities and renewable energy sectors in Ireland and the UK. Specialising in MV and LV power requirements, they have experienced electrical engineering and support teams that ensure a seamless, responsive and professional service from system design right through to maintenance and support.
The Role
Coordinate with clients, analyse design documentation and identify scope gaps.
Develop electrical plans and specifications for projects, prepare project scope, budget and provide technical submittal.
Analyse customer’s Single Line Diagram (SLD), specification, BOM, site layout, purchase order and other documents of the low‑voltage distribution system, switchboards (MDB / SDB) and DC systems.
Perform electrical calculations: load calculation, maximum predicted loading, Arc Flash and Short Circuit, busbar sizing, busbar trucking, form of separation, degree of protection, clearance and creepage distances. Prepare the discrimination study report.
Provide allowable cross‑sectional area of circuit conductors and cable schedule and specification. Prepare cable route, trench, ladder layout and calculation. Perform design tasks including lighting layouts, communications, fire alarm and security systems.
Prepare General Arrangement drawing, Single Line Diagram, panel layouts, Bill of Materials and schematic drawings for switchboards / distribution box, enclosure, compartmentation. Provide drawing based on IEC, UL & CSA standard. Carry out design work to create drawings for design including physical layouts and control/protection schematics as required.
Manage submittals through the approvals process, track procurement and delivery of electrical equipment and complete the receipt verification process. Share relevant technical inputs with purchasing, construction and commissioning team.
Develop procedures/standards for hand‑off to manufacturing operations for operating and maintaining systems to include standard work instructions, compliance control plans and standard O&M procedures / documentation.
Work with project team to ensure that progress is monitored and maintained in line with project timelines with communication to stakeholders. Review electrical installation with operations team to ensure the design is constructible. Liaise with design team & supply chain during operation of project on‑site & successful handover.
Liaise with suppliers on specifications and components. Comply with site safety, environmental rules and applicable legislation. Create tender, design, construction and as built drawings to meet project timelines. Ensure records are retained of design development, status & record control. Ensure technical assessments, variations to the sales file are completed and changes are communicated and resolved.
You’ll work with all departments within the company – sales through to commissioning and communication will all stakeholders. Keep up to date documentation & good client contact.
Qualifications
Industry code understanding and familiarity with IEC standards including IEC 60364, IEC 61439, IEC 61140, 60479 series & IEC 61201. Familiarity with BS 7671, I.S. 1010, UL 508A.
Experience designing the low‑voltage distribution system, switchboards (MDB / SDB) and DC systems.
Experience with electrical design software Eplan & Etap, CAD design software AutoCAD. Proficiency in electrical design software including Siemens SIMARIS, Schneider EcoStruxure, ABB e‑Design or similar.
Good analytical, problem solving and decision‑making ability.
Permanent role. Based in Drogheda, Co. Louth. Competitive salary and package.
