Operating since 1946, Abbott Ireland provides a diverse range of healthcare products, including diagnostics, diabetes care, medical devices, and nutritional products. We employ approximately 6,000 people across ten sites in Dublin, Donegal, Clonmel, Cootehill, Galway, Kilkenny, Longford, and Sligo.
Our new Kilkenny site specializes in Diabetes care, manufacturing FreeStyle blood glucose test strips and sensors. Leading brands include FreeStyle Precision, Lite, and Libre systems.
Role Overview:
We are seeking an excellent communicator with a strong technical background to lead, motivate, and inspire our team. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure production targets are met by effectively coordinating technical resources to maximize equipment availability, performance, and yield across multiple process areas, with a focus on safety and quality.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Manage Technical Personnel: Provide leadership, mentorship, training, and coaching. Maintain records of time and production.
2. Ensure the technical team delivers the required service level to maximize Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), including Availability, Performance, and Yield.
3. Apply structured problem-solving techniques to address issues and improve quality or output in responsible areas.
4. Communicate effectively with Senior Leadership regarding root causes, corrective, and preventative actions.
5. Lead maintenance and process/equipment issues across multiple process areas.
6. Conduct Performance Excellence Assessments and develop ongoing improvement plans.
7. Ensure compliance with all relevant policies and procedures, contributing to the creation of Work Instructions and Operations Procedures.
8. Fault find and repair complex manufacturing equipment to the component level.
Qualifications & Experience:
* At least 4 years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Minimum of 3 years developing and leading a team.
* Strong multitasking abilities.
* Excellent communication skills.
