Senior Occupational Therapist
The Senior Occupational Therapist will provide advanced therapeutic interventions to patients in an acute hospital setting. This role involves assessing, planning, and implementing high-quality occupational therapy services, supporting patient recovery, and promoting independence. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the best outcomes for patients. You be working with a very well renowed OT Manager with a strong team.
Key Responsibilities of a Senior Occupational Therapist

Perform comprehensive assessments of patients’ physical, cognitive, emotional, and social abilities.
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to promote functional independence.
Provide specialist advice and intervention for patients with complex needs in areas such as orthopaedics, neurology, respiratory, and oncology.
Monitor and evaluate patient progress, adapting interventions as necessary.
Ensure seamless transition and discharge planning, including referrals to community services where appropriate.
Lead and supervise a team of junior occupational therapists, therapy assistants, and students.
Provide clinical supervision and mentorship, fostering professional growth within the team.
Contribute to the induction and training of new staff members.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, participating in case reviews and ward rounds.
Lead or contribute to service audits, research projects, and quality improvement initiatives.
Implement evidence-based practices to enhance patient care and service efficiency.
Develop and deliver training programs for hospital staff on relevant occupational therapy topics.
Contribute to policy and procedure development within the occupational therapy department.

Essential Requirements of Senior Occupational Therapist

Degree in Occupational Therapy (or equivalent qualification recognized by CORU).
Current registration with CORU as an Occupational Therapist.
Minimum of three years post-qualification experience, with at least 2 years in an acute hospital setting.
Demonstrated expertise in assessing and managing complex clinical cases.
Proven ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.

Desirable Attributes

Postgraduate training or qualifications in a relevant area (e.g., neurological rehabilitation, hand therapy, etc.).
Experience in service development and leading quality improvement initiatives.
Strong leadership and mentoring skills.
Knowledge of HSE frameworks, policies, and guidelines.
