Principal DevOps Engineer – GitLab Expert
Dublin City Centre - 4 days onsite per week
Permanent Role
About the Role
We’re on the lookout for a Principal DevOps Engineer to join our team that builds and supports the platforms our software developers rely on daily. You’ll be the go-to expert for our build and deployment toolchains, owning everything from GitLab to Artifactory and the pipelines that tie it all together.
If you love automating workflows, scaling tools to support thousands of users and building stuff that “just works,” you’ll feel right at home here.
What You’ll Be Doing
Automating and streamlining build and deployment processes across multiple environments
Managing, scaling, and optimising GitLab – including installing, setting up, and running it on‑prem with minimal hand‑holding
Supporting and migrating large user bases (think 1,000–5,000 users)
Owning Artifactory and Octopus Deploy setups (huge plus if you know these inside out)
Overseeing version control and CI/CD systems like GitLab, Perforce, and TeamCity
Building and maintaining containerised infrastructure using Docker, Kubernetes, and Ansible
Developing custom scripts, tools, and integrations for smoother developer operations
Maintaining Linux toolchains and ensuring consistency across platforms
Jumping into team rotations for tooling support when needed
What You’ll Bring
Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or a related field (or equivalent hands‑on experience)
6+ years in DevOps, release engineering, or software deployment
Strong GitLab experience — you’ve installed it, configured it, and supported large‑scale user bases
Solid Linux skills and understanding of modern CI/CD practices
Familiarity with high‑level programming languages (C++, C#, Python, Go, or Java)
Experience with container tools (Docker, Kubernetes) and config management (Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or Salt)
TeamCity experience – nice to have
Artifactory experience – very nice to have
Octopus Deploy experience – very nice to have
Why You’ll Love It Here
This is a hands‑on, high‑impact role where you’ll own critical developer infrastructure and get to shape best practices across the company. You’ll be working with smart, collaborative engineers who love solving challenges at scale — and who value efficiency, automation, and clean systems just as much as you do.
