We are transforming the UK energy landscape by partnering with landowners and developers to build a 900MW portfolio of new grid-scale solar farms and battery storage assets.About the roleThe Electrical Maintenance Engineer will oversee planned maintenance, coordinate works with the maintenance planner and wider maintenance team, and be responsible for all HV related switching activities on site with a safety-first mindset. They will respond to emergency events during normal work hours and on-call in a mission-critical environment. The role acts as a subject matter expert for all electrical equipment on site, reporting to the Operations Manager and interacting with on-site Shift Operations Technicians and managing third-party vendors.Our goal is to maximise asset availability and efficiency. The role includes direct management of maintenance contractors responsible for maintaining critical assets while ensuring compliance with industry regulations, best practice and contractual obligations. The Electrical Maintenance Engineer will work with the Operations Manager on operational planning while seeking ways to reduce operational costs and improve processes, and will provide support to on-site Shift Operations Technicians. You will be responsible for electrical plant on site, including electrical aspects of the main rotating equipment, ensuring high availability for the client.ResponsibilitiesBe the technical expert on site for design standards, codes of practice and legislation, maintaining process safety standards.Plan and execute outages and preventative maintenance with the wider O&M Team within time, quality and budget requirements.Act as the point of contact for escalations related to electrical equipment issues.Assist Operations in root cause analysis of equipment onsite and review reports from on-site Shift Technicians and third-party vendors.Identify and implement measures to improve reliability, efficiency and performance of plant/equipment; present recommendations to Management as required.Coordinate site electrical projects safely, within budget and without unplanned incidents.Support management of service level agreements with third-party vendors and monitor vendor performance (timeliness, quality, safety, documentation & costs).Review service reports from third-party vendors and plan corrective actions.Maintain preventative maintenance schedules and risk registers; communicate as required.Maintain the site CMMS system and ensure all scheduled PM works are compliant.Write accurate maintenance reports and support root cause analysis for alarms/faults and equipment issues.Collaborate with Operations in developing SOPs/EOPs/MOPs for switching activities.Lead critical switching activities up to HV switchgear, coordinating all switching on-site safely.Provide leadership and governance in Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) for hazardous energy work.Submit, review and approve safety documentation in advance of maintenance activities; manage the site permit system.Promote safe working practices and ensure compliance with safety rules and procedures on site.Ensure staff and contractors maintain high safety standards and training; supervise third-party subcontractors on maintenance activities.Respond to out-of-hours events as required and support the on-call system.Ensure compliance with site quality procedures and contribute to continuous improvement programs.Support training and competency programs for Authorised Persons.Keep up to date with local laws, legislation and statutory requirements within the industry.Qualifications & experienceExperience coordinating/carrying out HV switching activities.Good IT literacy, with ability to write and develop switching plans/SOPs/EOPs.Experience managing sub-contractors.Experience in commissioning and/or troubleshooting electrical control & protection systems is desirable.Familiar with power generation equipment, backup generators/CCGT.Experience communicating technical reports to internal or external stakeholders (written and verbal).Ability to operate independently and efficiently.Experience with CMMS (Maintenance Management Systems).Familiar with SCADA systems or similar.Qualified Electrical Tradesperson (NFQ) or equivalent.HV training provided by a recognised provider (e.g., City & Guilds) is essential.Third level qualification in Electrical Engineering or similar is desirable but not essential.Able to work Monday to Friday at the customer site.
