Senior Community Podiatrist (Non-Diabetic Wound Care Focus) – Limerick
Excel Recruitment is recruiting a Senior Podiatrist on behalf of a HSE Community team. This is a full-time, 1-year specified purpose contract.
This role focuses entirely on non-diabetic wound care, offering a unique opportunity to apply your expertise to a diverse range of complex skin and nail pathologies, vascular issues, and mobility challenges.
As a Senior Podiatrist, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive podiatric assessments and treatment to adults with a variety of health conditions that affect the feet and lower limbs, including diabetes, vascular disease, mobility issues, and complex skin and nail pathologies. You will work across a range of community settings including health centres, primary care facilities, and clients' homes, delivering preventative care, education, and treatment that supports overall foot health and reduces hospital admissions.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage a podiatry caseload of adult clients with both routine and complex foot and lower limb conditions in line with HSE protocols and evidence-based, person-centred care principles.
2. Deliver care in both clinic-based and domiciliary (home visit) settings
3. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate podiatric interventions across community and other healthcare settings as required, promoting self-management and positive health behaviours to improve long-term outcomes.
4. Provide autonomous clinical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning for a broad range of patients, including those requiring care in areas such as wound management, musculoskeletal podiatry, diabetic foot care, and minor nail procedures.
5. Deliver single-handed clinical care in both low-risk and high-risk community settings, supporting early intervention and preventing the escalation of complex conditions.
6. Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary primary care team, and refer or signpost patients to appropriate services as needed to support holistic care planning.
Essential Requirements:
7. BSc (Hons) or MSc in Podiatry.
8. CORU registration as a Podiatrist.
9. Minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience, with at least 2 years working in a community or primary care setting.
10. Proven expertise in managing high-risk feet (e.g., diabetic foot care, ulcer prevention, and management).
11. Strong clinical decision-making and communication skills.
12. Ability to manage a busy caseload independently and prioritise effectively.
13. Experience working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
14. A full clean driving licence and access to a car for community visits.
