VAT Director

We are seeking a VAT Director to provide VAT support on all aspects of tax advisory and liaise with Irish and international clients, advising on all relevant VAT issues.
Key Responsibilities
Managing a wide client portfolio spanning multiple industries.
Managing budgeting and ensuring monthly and annual targets are met.
Working with Partners and other Directors to drive and grow the firm's indirect tax service offering.
Subject matter expert for VAT, and technical lead advisor for complex indirect tax structuring and other advisory projects.
Leading technical sessions for our team and delivering excellence in thought leadership (internal and external).
Training and mentoring of our indirect tax team.
Key Skills & Attributes
Strong tax technical skills, with the ability to interpret and apply complex VAT legislation, guidance, and case law to client scenarios and advisory work.
Experience advising across all aspects of VAT (FS & non-FS). Other indirect taxes (e.g., RCT and customs) experience is highly advantageous.
Experience advising on key indirect tax regulatory changes (e.g., e‑invoicing, VAT in the Digital Age) and supporting across cross‑functional tax technology teams.
Self‑starter with ability to use initiative and to prioritise with excellent time management skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a global team environment.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Law, Accounting, or related field preferred.
Tax or accountancy qualification with a minimum six years’ post‑qualification experience.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office tools is essential.
Familiarity with financial systems, controls, and reporting processes is advantageous.
Experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Oracle) and tax compliance software tools (e.g., Vertex, Avalara, TR OneSource) is also advantageous.
