Job Title: Senior Occupational Therapist – Paediatrics
Job Type: Full-Time 12 month Contract (High posibility of extension)
Location: Cavan
Salary: Aligned with HSE pay scales for Senior Grade Occupational Therapists
Excel Recruitment is proud to partner with a progressive Paediatric Primary Care team in Cavan to recruit a Senior Occupational Therapist.
This is an exciting opportunity to step up into a Senior role within a well-resourced team.
* You’ll be joining a well-established team with two Senior Occupational Therapists
* This is a chance to influence service delivery, support junior colleagues, and shape paediatric OT care in the Cavan region.
* As a Senior Occupational Therapist, you’ll take a leading role in the delivery and coordination of paediatric services within a Primary Care team.
* You’ll manage a varied caseload of children aged 0-18 with complex needs, contribute to service development, support junior staff, and act as a key clinical resource within the multidisciplinary team.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
* Deliver advanced Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention for children with developmental, sensory, and physical challenges.
* Provide clinical leadership and support to junior team members, including mentoring, supervision, and case consultation.
* Manage a complex caseload, prioritising care needs while promoting functional independence and participation in everyday activities.
* Collaborate closely with families, educators, and allied health professionals to ensure holistic and coordinated care.
* Contribute to the planning and development of paediatric Occupational Therapy services within the team.
* Lead or participate in service audits, quality improvement projects, and best practice initiatives.
* Support staff training and the integration of evidence-based practices.
* Maintain high standards of documentation in line with HSE and CORU guidelines.
Requirements
* CORU registration as an Occupational Therapist.
* Minimum 3 years post-qualification experience, ideally including paediatrics or community-based care.
* Strong clinical reasoning, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
* Demonstrated experience in multidisciplinary team working and case coordination.
* Proven ability to manage a complex caseload and support service development.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on family-centred care.
* Full clean driver’s licence and access to a car for community-based visits.
