Job Description - Facilities & Equipment Engineer We are seeking a hands-on and proactive Facilities & Equipment Engineer to support the maintenance and operational reliability of a busy plastics recycling facility.
This role involves a mix of preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, facilities upkeep, and continuous improvement initiatives.
The ideal candidate will be a multi-skilled technician with experience in manufacturing or processing environments, capable of working both independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
Job Responsibilities Carry out preventative maintenance across production equipment and facility systems.
Respond to breakdowns and faults with a focus on quick diagnosis and repair.
Assist in planning and scheduling maintenance tasks in coordination with the Engineering Manager.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance work and service histories.
Perform general building maintenance, including basic plumbing, electrical, and carpentry tasks.
Support production teams during equipment start-ups and changeovers.
Contribute to continuous improvement, lean initiatives, and 5 S practices.
Liaise with contractors and vendors for servicing, repairs, and installations.
Assist in managing spares inventory and procurement of maintenance materials.
Develop and share troubleshooting guides and standard work procedures.
Job Requirements 35 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing or process environment.
Strong mechanical and/or electrical maintenance background.
Recognised qualification in mechanical and/or electrical engineering.
Proven ability to work across multi-trade maintenance tasks.
Familiar with preventative maintenance systems and scheduling.
Comfortable using CMMS or digital maintenance tracking tools.
Understanding of lean manufacturing principles, including 5 S.
Excellent problem-solving and fault-finding skills.
Good communication and teamwork capabilities.
