I.T. System Administrator
Role Overview
This is a technical role within the Enterprise Services team reporting to the I.T. Service Desk Team Lead. You will work with our existing system administration function to manage and secure our IT infrastructure, both on premise and cloud, with a focus on security and Microsoft 365 administration. You will be working alongside multiple partners to ensure solutions services are fit for purpose. As required, you may be expected to become a stakeholder in technical projects.
Experience
* 3rd level IT qualification with 3 years' experience in a similar role.
* Proven experience as a system administrator supporting server operating systems (Windows Server 2019 above, Linux), ideally on virtual environments. Operation of systems in cloud is a significant advantage.
* Experience in managing Active Directory environment (on-premises and Azure), DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
* Proficiency in managing and administering M365 services (including Mail, InTune, and SharePoint amongst others).
* Understanding or use of Applications Delivery Controller or Load balancers is an advantage.
* Strong understanding of networking principles.
* Experience with security tools and technologies (patch management, antivirus, firewalls).
Role Responsibilities
System Administration
* Daily administration of I.T. systems: Servers, workstations, and network infrastructure.
* Review daily health check reports, identify any problems and troubleshoot issues with partners.
* Work with managed service partners to ensure availability and performance of systems and key services.
* Assist with deployment of Windows operating system, software, or patches using Microsoft tools (Autopilot, SCCM, Intune).
M365 Administration
* Manage M365 services including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive.
* Monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and perform any required maintenance.
* Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices, aligning with company policies.
Security Administration
* Install configure security software, ensuring overall compliance.
* Review security reports, carrying out recommended actions where necessary.
* Conduct system audits for technical and physical security.
* Escalate changes to security configuration (including firewall changes) where required.
* Act as an escalation point for level 1 service desk and the wider I.T. team.
* Ability to prioritize, perform, and complete tasks in an effective and timely manner.
