We have an opportunity for an experienced Geotechnical Engineer with 5 or more years’ relevant experience to join our geotechnical department in delivering complex geotechnical design solutions as part of our overall multidisciplinary team on infrastructure projects such as rail, highways, structures & water.

The successful candidate will work directly with all members of the geotechnical team across Ireland and shall be based in either the Dublin, Dundalk, Cork or Galway office, with the option to work remotely within Ireland in a hybrid work environment depending on internet speed and connectivity.
Role Description and Duties
1. Project management.
2. Delivery of geotechnical design packages including earthworks, slope stability, shallow and deep foundations, and retaining walls.
3. Planning and procurement of ground investigation contracts for major infrastructure and commercial development projects.
4. Supporting our design teams through the provision of specialist geotechnical design input.
5. Designing earthworks and foundations to Eurocode 7.
6. Preparing earthworks designs to Eurocode 7, including specifications and design drawings.
7. Preparation of reports in accordance with DN-ERW-03083.
8. Pavement foundation design in accordance with TII / UK DMRB.
9. Design of ground improvement techniques for soft ground, including surcharge, vertical drains, piled embankments, and lime/concrete stabilisation.
10. Preparation of reports, drawings, and calculations.
11. Preparation of Designer’s and Geotechnical Risk Registers and assessments.
Candidate Requirements
1. Minimum 5 years’ experience in Geotechnical design.
2. Experience working in Irish/UK glacial till soils is desirable but not essential.
3. A Level 8 Honours Degree in Civil / Geotechnical Engineering or related field.
4. Chartered status (CEng, MICE) or equivalent is desirable but not essential.
5. Proven experience in a fast-paced engineering consultancy environment.
6. Strong numerical/analytical capabilities in geotechnical design.
7. Knowledge of soft ground techniques, soil reinforcement, piling, and retaining walls is desirable but not essential.
8. Fully experienced in design to Eurocode 7.
9. Experience with numerical software such as GeoStudio, Holebase/Openground, Wallap, etc.
10. Excellent interpersonal, technical, and report writing skills.
11. Willingness to travel within Ireland and overseas for short assignments.
12. Fluent in spoken and written English.
13. A valid full clean driver’s license.
