Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking General Operative / Wood Machinist to join our busy manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating woodworking machinery, handling materials, and supporting the production process to ensure high-quality output and efficient workflow.
Key Responsibilities:
* Operate a variety of woodworking machines such as saws, planers, moulders, spindle moulders, and CNC equipment (if applicable).
* Measure, cut, shape, and prepare timber or sheet materials to specified dimensions.
* Read and interpret technical drawings and work instructions.
* Perform basic assembly tasks, sanding, and finishing where required.
* Carry out general factory duties including loading/unloading, stacking, and maintaining cleanliness in the work area.
* Carry out regular checks and maintenance on machines and tools to ensure safe and efficient operation.
* Adhere to health and safety regulations at all times.
* Work as part of a team to meet production targets and deadlines.
* Report any defects, damages, or issues to the supervisor promptly.
Requirements:
* Previous experience in a factory or manufacturing environment, preferably working with wood or wood-based products.
* Good physical fitness and ability to lift materials (in accordance with health and safety guidelines).
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
* Willingness to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
* Basic understanding of health and safety practices in a factory environment.
Desirable (but not essential):
* Forklift license
* Manual handling certificate
* Experience with CNC machinery
* Experience operating wood machinery
Working Hours:
* Monday – Thursday, 8.30am – 5pm, with overtime as required
* Friday, 8.30am – 4pm, with overtime as required
Salary:
* Competitive, based on experience.
