Senior Cost Estimator (Civil Infrastructure) Location: Co. Mayo Job Type: Full-Time Salary: €75k - €100k The Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Senior Cost Estimator to play a key role in the preparation and submission of competitive tenders for major civil infrastructure works. This position sits within the commercial/bidding function and works closely with bid leadership and technical teams to ensure tenders are robust, commercially sound, and aligned with project requirements. You will take ownership of pricing activities from early review through to final submission, contributing to the successful award of projects across the civil engineering sector. What You'll Be Doing Take the lead in building detailed cost plans and estimates for civil infrastructure schemes, including utilities, water, and wastewater works Work closely with bid and commercial leads to ensure tenders are delivered on time and to a high standard Interpret drawings, technical documents, and employer's requirements to identify scope, risks, and opportunities Source and evaluate pricing from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure accuracy and competitiveness Contribute to risk assessments, value engineering, and alternative solutions during tender development Provide cost support during pre-contract handover and early project stages Monitor market conditions, labour rates, and material trends to maintain up-to-date pricing models Assist in improving estimating processes, systems, and best practices within the department What We're Looking For Strong experience in a senior estimating or commercial role within civil engineering or infrastructure In-depth understanding of tendering procedures and project delivery methods Ability to work collaboratively across commercial, engineering, and delivery teams Commercially aware, detail-focused, and confident in decision-making Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and advise stakeholders Degree-qualified in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline (preferred but not essential) What's On Offer Exposure to large-scale, technically interesting civil engineering projects A collaborative and professional working environment Competitive salary and benefits package Long-term career development within a growing and ambitious organisation A strong focus on quality, safety, and continuous improvement KSGalway Should you require any support or assistance, please contact your local Gi Group office.
