Our client, a public sector body, is recruiting for a Senior Project Manager in Kilkenny.
This is an initial 1-year contract role with strong potential for extension and future permanency.
This department provides a range of professional, technical, project management, property, energy, sustainability, fire and safety and related services in respect of the procurement, development, operation and maintenance of the client’s physical infrastructure – including lands, buildings, plant and equipment.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Arrange preparation of specifications, drawings and contract documents for Capital Projects.
Develop proposals with selected design teams and contractors.
Develop action plans for timely and efficient completion of contracts; coordinate tender and control stages of the project, liaising with design team, site supervisory staff, hospital personnel etc.
Supervise staff and contractors in implementation of agreed programmes.
Work with service management and nurse planners to ensure equipping/commissioning team is established on time, adequately briefed, trained and effectively supported.
Manage and control agreed project timescales and budgets for planning, design, construction and equipping, ensuring quality standards.
Anticipate difficulties and problems, particularly those arising from phasing, variations, commissioning and vacating; resolve directly or bring to notice of Estates Manager and Project Board for decisions on avoidable claims.
Manage and control expenditure on each assigned project; present financial reports to senior management and Project Board as required.
Ensure appropriate maintenance arrangements are put in place for new buildings.
Prepare comprehensive brief for projects in consultation with services and capital & estates personnel and advisors.
Ensure brief is understood by all those likely to work in the new facility.
Manage consultation processes, meetings and other activities needed for satisfactory completion of the project.
Comply with all regulatory requirements including permission, licences, certificates and approvals.
Act as senior administrative officer for the management of the project and help resolve issues efficiently.
Define requirements for design services, buildings and equipment.
Advise on selection of design teams, other professional services and contractors for capital projects; arrange and manage procurement processes.
Requirements
Hold a Level 8 (or higher) QQI major academic award in Architecture, Engineering or Surveying accredited by the relevant Professional Institute.
Membership of the relevant professional association: Society of Chartered Surveyors in Ireland, Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, Engineers Ireland, Royal Institute of Architects of Ireland.
Be eligible for registration under the Building Control Act 2007 without requiring further assessment as it applies to your qualified discipline.
Knowledge & Experience
High level knowledge and experience of construction of buildings and building services, and understanding of maintenance requirements.
Leadership and team management skills, including ability to work with multidisciplinary team members and motivate, train, develop and manage staff.
Effective communication skills: ability to present information clearly and concisely; facilitate and manage groups; give constructive feedback to encourage learning.
