An established automation and systems integration company is expanding its Irish operations and is seeking a Lead Automation Engineer to take charge of its Limerick technical office.
This is a senior role for a proven technical expert who enjoys leading people as much as delivering high‑quality automation projects.
You’ll manage a team of 4–5 automation engineers, oversee all technical delivery, and work closely with the company’s Sales Lead to support new business and growth opportunities.
What You’ll Do
* Lead and mentor a team of 4–5 automation, electrical, and mechatronic engineers.
* Act as the technical authority for all automation and system integration projects.
* Manage the design, documentation, programming, and delivery of PLC/HMI/SCADA systems.
* Review and approve technical work to ensure compliance, quality, and consistency.
* Coordinate with project managers, procurement, and site teams to deliver on time and within budget.
* Engage directly with clients to resolve complex technical issues and develop lasting relationships.
* Partner with the Sales Lead to identify and scope new business opportunities and support project bids.
* Maintain high standards in safety, documentation, and industry best practice.
What You’ll Bring
* Degree in Electrical, Automation, or Mechatronic Engineering (Level 8 or equivalent).
* 8–12 years’ experience in automation, control systems, or system integration.
* Proven leadership experience – managing or mentoring engineers on technical projects.
* Deep understanding of PLC, HMI, and SCADA platforms (e.g. Siemens, Allen‑Bradley, Rockwell, Ignition).
* Strong background in FAT/SAT, validation, and commissioning.
* Excellent communication and client‑facing skills, with a focus on technical delivery and quality.
* A proactive approach to supporting business development and project growth.
