The Department
The Amputee Rehabilitation Service provides inpatient and outpatient services to the clients of Alfred Health and is located at Caulfield Hospital (CH). The Amputee Rehabilitation Service is a specialised service providing clinical assessment and evaluation for a wide range of clients with limb loss and deficiency, leading to the custom prescription, design and manufacture of prostheses as well as amputee rehabilitation services offered include Prosthetics, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Medical and are provided to clients of the Victorian Artificial Limb Program (VALP), Veterans Affairs, the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and other compensable clients.
The Role
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Grade 2 Prosthetist with 5 years’ experience to join our dynamic team. This exciting new position will be based at the Golf Links Road Rehabilitation Centre with some time spent at Caulfield Hospital. As a Grade 2 Prosthetist, you will play a crucial role in providing prosthetic care, whilst working collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to ensure the highest standards of clinical practice and patient satisfaction. As a grade 2 Prosthetist you will have a diverse and clinical case load of both VALP and NDIS patients.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the ongoing development of the service at Golf Links Road. They will become an integral team member of the Prosthetic Department and would work closely with other allied health professionals along with the prosthetic team at the Caulfield hospital.
Qualifications And Experience Required
Bachelor’s degree in Prosthetics and Orthotics
Membership of the Australian Orthotic Prosthetic Association
Relevant postgraduate clinical experience including a demonstrated ability to treat limb deficient patients
Ability to run a clinic and work autonomously at Golf Links Road rehabilitation centre
Ability to provide direction and delegation of technical tasks
Understanding of the public health system and areas of funding
Understand, implement and manage quality assurance procedures concerning the manufacture of prosthetic/orthotic devices
Current Victorian Driver's Licence
Experience with the supervision of staff and/or students
