Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Consultant in Emergency Medicine to join their multidisciplinary team in a busy acute hospital providing a full range of emergency services. The successful candidate will provide clinical leadership, deliver high-quality patient care, and contribute to the development and governance of emergency services in line with national standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide specialist assessment and management of patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
* Lead and participate in the delivery of high-quality, safe, and patient-centred emergency care.
* Supervise and support junior medical staff, including registrars, SHOs, and interns.
* Work in collaboration with other specialties to ensure timely patient flow and effective care pathways.
* Contribute to the development, implementation, and audit of clinical guidelines and protocols.
* Participate in teaching, training, and continuing medical education (CME) activities.
* Engage in clinical governance, quality improvement, and risk management.
* Participate in the Emergency Medicine Consultant on-call rota.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
* Registered or eligible for registration on the Specialist Division of the Irish Medical Council (IMC) in the specialty of Emergency Medicine.
* Fellowship of a recognised postgraduate medical training body (e.g., FRCEM, FACEM, ABEM, etc.).
* Minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience in Emergency Medicine.
* Proven leadership, teaching, and service development experience.
* Excellent interpersonal, communication, and team-working skills.
Desirable:
* Experience in sub-specialty areas such as Paediatric Emergency Medicine, Toxicology, or Pre-hospital Emergency Care.
* Research experience and/or academic publications.
* Higher degree (MD, MSc, PhD) desirable but not essential.
