Job Description
daa Asset Management is part of the wider Infrastructure function at Dublin Airport and is responsible for operating and maintaining the airport’s assets.
Apprenticeships are available for one Painter, one Carpenter and one Gardening (Horticulture) Apprentice.
Applicants must be eligible to undertake the SOLAS Standard Based Apprenticeship Programme (see www.solas.ie). The apprenticeship will be delivered on the job at Dublin Airport with off‑the‑job training provided under the SOLAS programme.
Responsibilities
Painting Apprenticeship (4 years)
Surface preparation: sanding, filling, masking and priming walls and woodwork
Wallcoverings: measuring, cutting and hanging standard and specialty vinyl wall coverings
Recoating surfaces: professionally applying paint, stains and varnishes using brushes, rollers and airless spray systems
Sign work: laying out and painting signs
Paint spraying: application to a variety of surfaces
Equipment maintenance: keeping brushes and rollers in good condition
Adherence to local health and safety protocol
Attention to detail and record keeping
Carpentry Apprenticeship (4 years)
Timber preparation & fabrication: measuring, marking, cutting, assembling and finishing timber and associated materials
Joinery installation & fit‑out works: installing doors, frames, flooring systems, ceiling structures, wall cladding and bespoke joinery in a live airport environment
Planned & reactive maintenance: inspecting, repairing and maintaining structural and non‑structural carpentry elements
Tools & equipment operation: safe use, care and maintenance of hand tools, portable power tools and fixed woodworking machinery
Technical drawings & specifications: interpreting work instructions, drawings and specifications to deliver tasks accurately
Finishing & quality assurance: preparing surfaces and completing finishing tasks such as sanding and sealing to high standards
Materials management: storing and using materials efficiently to minimise waste and support sustainable practices
Health, safety & security compliance: strictly adhering to daa health & safety regulations, SOLAS standards and airport security procedures
Gardening (Horticulture) Apprenticeship (2 years)
Grass cutting
Raking and sowing lawns
Designing and planting bedding schemes
Seed sowing and potting of bedding plants
Managing indoor and outdoor planting arrangements
Plant propagation in a nursery environment
Hedge planting and cutting
Weed management: weeding, trimming, cutting
Operating machinery: lawn mowers, tractors and watering equipment
Adherence to local health and safety protocol
Attention to detail and record keeping
Qualifications
At least eighteen years of age on 24th August 2026
Leaving certificate with Minimum Grade O6 in five subjects, including Maths and English, and one of: Science, Technical Graphics, Materials Technology (Metal/ Wood) or Technology
Junior certificate results will also be considered
Genuine interest in developing skills in carpentry, painting or horticulture with enthusiasm for hands‑on work
Good manual dexterity and coordination, and willingness to learn practical techniques
Problem‑solving mindset and ability to approach tasks thoughtfully
Good written and spoken English
Positive attitude towards learning, including listening, following instructions and asking questions
Ability to work both as part of a team and independently with appropriate supervision
Proactive approach and willingness to take responsibility for personal development
Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment and contributing positively to continuous improvement
