We are recruiting an Assistant Management Accountant for a leading manufacturing client to support their Finance Manager across all aspects of finance and sales reporting. This is a
maternity cover position starting ASAP
, and my client needs someone who can hit the ground running.
Here's what this actually means:
This position demands
multi-tasking without dropping balls.
You'll own accounts receivable and credit control, prepare monthly management accounts to strict deadlines, manage bank reconciliations, handle VAT returns across multiple jurisdictions, prepare Intrastat/VIES/CSO returns, maintain rebate accruals, and produce weekly cashflow forecasts and sales analysis. That's not a wishlist—that's your Monday.
If you need extensive handholding or struggle with competing deadlines, this isn't the right fit.
You'll deputise for the Finance Manager when needed and provide cover for the accounts administrator during annual leave. That means you need to understand the full finance function, not just your lane. When reconciliations don't balance or audit trail reports reveal discrepancies, you'll need to investigate and resolve them independently before escalation.
This is
Monday to Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm office-based work in Castleblayney
. No evenings, weekends, or bank holidays—but during month-end close and reporting periods, the pace intensifies. You'll be working to Group accounting manual standards with twice-yearly debtor confirmations, creditor reconciliation reviews, and bi-annual stock count procedures.
My client measures success in accuracy, timeliness, and your ability to keep complex reporting processes running smoothly while the Finance Manager focuses on strategic work.
The upside:
* Gain exposure to Group-level reporting and controls in a €50M+ turnover organisation
* Work with enterprise systems (SAP experience beneficial) and sophisticated financial processes
* Fixed day work schedule—genuine work-life balance with no weekend or evening requirements
* 23 days annual leave + bank/public holidays, competitive salary, contributory pension, Employee Assistance Programme
* Opportunity to step up and demonstrate capability in a high-responsibility role
What you need:
* Experience in a similar management accounting support role
* Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines
* Comfort with compliance, internal audit requirements, and reconciliation processes
Beneficial (not essential):
* ATI qualification, part-qualified accountant, or similar
* SAP experience
* Manufacturing organisation background
* Experience in €50M+ turnover organisations
If you're experienced, organised, and can handle the responsibility of keeping finance operations running during this maternity cover—let's talk.
