Position Summary:
The Manufacturing Manager reports to the Director of Operations at ABEC Ireland. The role focuses on maintaining on-time deliveries, ensuring high quality, and improving production efficiencies through resource planning, lean manufacturing, and disciplined processes. The goal is to achieve low-cost production while maintaining customer satisfaction. Collaboration with product development teams and fostering a positive work environment are also key responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
1. Supervise production line flow, including staffing and equipment adjustments to meet schedules.
2. Manage all manufacturing personnel activities with high visibility and accessibility.
3. Evaluate manufacturing operations for improvements using metrics, capital, personnel, and standards.
4. Coordinate with Quality Control to maintain standards and address deficiencies.
5. Work with schedulers to align staffing with business needs.
6. Train, motivate, coach, reward, and discipline staff, fostering teamwork.
7. Enforce safety policies and ensure safety training; investigate accidents.
8. Resolve production issues collaboratively across departments.
9. Assign duties, monitor work quality, and ensure policy compliance.
10. Maintain knowledge of equipment and capacity to meet production needs.
11. Identify barriers and propose solutions proactively.
12. Set departmental goals aligned with strategic planning.
13. Support continuous improvement initiatives and team training.
14. Supervise manufacturing employees directly.
15. Perform management tasks in accordance with policies and laws.
16. Handle hiring, training, performance appraisal, rewards, and discipline.
17. Address manufacturing process and personnel issues with viable solutions.
18. Perform additional duties as assigned and travel when required.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's Degree (Level 8) preferred but not essential.
* 3-5 years supervisory experience in manufacturing.
* Ability to interpret engineering drawings.
* Experience in capacity planning for people and equipment.
* Ability to train and motivate staff to improve quality, KPIs, and profitability.
* Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
* Flexible, innovative, and able to set priorities.
* Strong business acumen and facilitation skills.
* Good understanding of lean manufacturing principles.
* Experience in high-volume manufacturing environments.
* Strong organizational and planning skills.
* Fluent in written and spoken English.
