This post is to support the Discipline of Anatomy’s teaching and research perspectives by joining a dynamic and expanding health science department. The role encompasses technical support for anatomical practical teaching and research, including undergraduate and postgraduate projects. Technical service also includes the maintenance of the department’s laboratories, the preservation, preparation, and care of human cadavers, and the delivery of practical class teaching.
Context
Trinity College Dublin hosts the School of Medicine’s Discipline of Anatomy, which teaches a wide range of health‑science programmes. The discipline’s research themes span neuroscience, exercise, medical education, and immunology. The department includes a tissue research laboratory, a modern dissection theatre, a preparation laboratory, an embalming laboratory, a mortuary, and a human performance laboratory.
Responsibilities
The role reports to the Chief Technical Officer and the Head of Discipline and will work within the technical team to support teaching and research activities. The successful candidate will act as the first point of contact for academic staff, teaching assistants, and students in the labs, providing a range of technical, professional, efficient, and welcoming services to all laboratory users. Key duties include support of practical classes, maintenance of laboratory equipment, preparation and preservation of cadavers, and assistance in undergraduate and postgraduate project work.

Post Status: Permanent Contract
Hours: 36.5 hours per week
Salary: Appointment will be made on the Technical Officer Pay Scale in line with Government Pay Policy (€40,743 to €61,557 per annum). New entrants to the public sector will be appointed at Point 1 (€40,743 per annum). Preference may be given to candidates with an MSc and a minimum of three years of relevant experience.
Qualifications: A relevant honours degree is required. National Certificate holders may be considered where they meet other criteria.
