Responsibilities
* Motivate, support, and encourage service users to engage in planned activities of their choice.
* Support the care of service users, including personal care and providing an overview of their daily needs.
* Support and promote independence and community integration in accordance with New Directions (HSE, 2012).
* Take personal responsibility for learning about each service user, listening to them, and using reflective practice to enhance your skills and knowledge.
* Participate in a key worker role under guidance from a senior staff member.
* Work as part of a team, supporting colleagues and attending regular meetings and supervisions.
* Uphold confidentiality in line with GDPR at all times.
* Manage and administer medication according to policy.
* Liaise with multidisciplinary teams, families, and relevant parties regarding service users.
* Observe and report on health and safety matters.
* Contribute to Person-Centred Planning meetings and follow up on actions and outcomes.
* Support service users in daily life, helping them make appropriate choices.
* Report concerns about welfare, safety, and health.
* Accurately record information following National Standards and New Directions.
* Support positive behaviour management plans tailored to each service user.
* Ensure high-quality service through compliance with audits and follow-up actions.
* Follow financial procedures and report discrepancies.
* Build and maintain positive relationships with families, colleagues, and other relevant parties.
* Create opportunities for community involvement, volunteering, employment, and education for service users.
* Attend all mandatory training and development programs.
* Participate actively in supervision and appraisals, reflecting on practice to improve skills.
* Perform any other duties within the scope of the Support Worker role as required.
Qualifications
* Relevant Health Care qualification (minimum Fetac Level 5 / Social Care or equivalent).
* Full driver’s license with at least two years' experience.
* Currently undertaking or holding a CORU-recognised Social Care Qualification.
