BioAtlantis is a pioneering biotechnology company headquartered in Tralee, Ireland. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Financial Controller to join our leadership team.
Role Summary:
The Financial Controller will be responsible for overseeing all financial and accounting activities across the organisation. This strategic role ensures financial integrity, optimises operational efficiency, and provides analytical insights to support decision-making and long-term planning.
Key Responsibilities:
* Focus on achievement of KPIs on a weekly basis.
* Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
* Oversee preparation of consolidated financial statements and group reporting.
* Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process, including variance analysis.
* Manage the annual audit process and liaise with external auditors.
* Monitor cash flow and ensure working capital.
Strategic Planning & Analysis
* Partner with the CEO and senior leadership to drive strategic financial planning.
* Analyse financial results, identify trends, and provide actionable recommendations.
* Support investment decision-making, R&D project evaluations, and capital expenditure planning.
* Target and apply for relevant grant funding to support the business.
* Manage and mentor a finance team, promoting continuous improvement and development.
Systems & Process Improvement
* Oversee implementation and optimisation of financial systems and tools (e.g., ERP).
* Improve automation, data integrity, and reporting capabilities.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
Education:
* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
* Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA, CIMA or CPA) required.
Experience:
* Minimum 5–7 years of progressive financial management experience, with at least 3 years in a senior finance role.
* Industry experience in Dairy product manufacturing, pharma or brewing preferred.
* Familiarity with cost accounting, grant funding, and export-driven businesses is advantageous.
Skills:
* Strong technical accounting and financial reporting knowledge.
* Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Sage, or similar).
* Excellent analytical, organisational, and strategic planning skills.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to present to board level.
* Demonstrated leadership and team development capabilities.
* Experience in managing EU or government-funded grant projects.
* Knowledge of international trade and multi-currency financial management.
* Interest or background in science-driven industries.
