Grant & O’Brien is seeking an experienced, proactive and highly organised Site Manager to manage and take ownership of multiple commercial and construction cleaning contracts.
The successful candidate will be responsible for staffing, site standards, training, stock control, rosters, site visits, client communication, compliance and administration. This role requires someone with strong cleaning or facilities industry experience, construction site awareness, excellent customer service, and the ability to manage several contracts and projects at the same time.
This position is suited to a reliable, hands‑on and driven individual who can lead teams, support supervisors, monitor work progress, maintain high standards and ensure all contracts are delivered in line with Grant & O’Brien procedures and ISO 9001 requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and take ownership of assigned commercial and construction cleaning contracts.
Ensure each site is correctly staffed, rostered and operating to the agreed cleaning specification.
Conduct regular site visits, inspections and audits to monitor standards and work progress.
Supervise and support cleaning staff and site supervisors across multiple contracts.
Train new and existing staff on cleaning standards, site procedures, chemical use, equipment use, health and safety, and customer expectations.
Monitor staff attendance, punctuality, uniform, PPE, performance and conduct.
Prepare and maintain rosters, cleaning schedules, checklists, audit forms and site records.
Replenish stock, chemicals, consumables and PPE, ensuring each site has the correct materials and equipment.
Ensure cleaning equipment is safe, suitable, maintained and reported if damaged or defective.
Liaise professionally with clients, contractors, supervisors and management regarding site requirements, issues and improvements.
Investigate complaints, identify root causes, complete corrective actions and follow up to ensure standards improve.
Ensure construction site visits are completed safely and in line with site rules, Safe Pass requirements and company procedures.
Monitor ongoing project work across multiple sites and ensure cleaning tasks are completed safely, efficiently and to the required standard.
Ensure compliance with company policies, health and safety procedures, ISO 9001 quality standards, risk assessments, method statements and site‑specific requirements.
Maintain accurate administration, including training records, staff records, compliance documents, audit reports, complaints logs and management updates.
Support continuous improvement by identifying operational risks, training needs, staffing issues and service improvements.
Essential Requirements
Previous experience in the cleaning, facilities management, commercial cleaning or construction cleaning industry.
Experience managing multiple commercial contracts, sites or projects.
Previous supervisory or management experience.
Safe Pass certification.
Manual Handling certification.
Strong leadership and staff management skills.
Experience training staff and improving cleaning standards.
Good understanding of health and safety, PPE, chemical safety and site compliance.
Strong customer service and communication skills.
Good administration skills, including rosters, checklists, reports and compliance records.
Ability to manage supervisors, staff performance and client expectations.
Ability to work independently, take ownership and solve problems quickly.
High level of reliability, professionalism and accountability.
Full driving licence desirable due to travel between sites.
Business, operations, facilities, leadership or management qualification.
Experience working on active construction sites
Desirable
ISO 9001 or quality management experience.
Experience conducting site audits and quality inspections.
Knowledge of COSHH / chemical safety procedures.
Experience using digital rostering, reporting or workforce management systems.
First Aid, MEWP or additional health and safety training would be an advantage.
