Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Cost Accountant is responsible for managing cost accounting activities related to manufacturing operations, ensuring accurate costing, inventory valuation, variance analysis, and compliance with accounting standards.
This role plays a critical part in supporting plant operations by providing high-quality cost insights that drive operational efficiency and profitability.
This position is part of the EU Operations Finance team, located in Cork, Ireland or Nazareth, Belgium, and will be primarily on-site.
In this role, a typical day will look like:
* Develop and maintain standard costs for materials, labor, and manufacturing overhead; analyze variances against standards.
* Participate in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close for cost-related accounts and reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with US GAAP, local GAAP, SOX, and Veralto Finance policies.
* Support Senior Cost Accountants, Plant Business Partners, and Controllers with analysis of production costs, raw materials, and operational expenses.
* Monitor inventory levels, investigate and reconcile discrepancies, and ensure accurate valuation of raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
* Collaborate with Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement, and Finance to gather data and support cost analysis.
* Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes related to manufacturing costs and operational expenses.
* Provide variance analysis commentary to support operational and financial decision-making.
The essential requirements of the job include:
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
* Minimum 2+ years of experience as a Cost Accountant in a manufacturing environment.
* Demonstrated knowledge of cost accounting, inventory accounting, variance analysis, and financial reporting.
* Experience working under US GAAP, local GAAP, and SOX compliance frameworks.
* ERP experience required (Oracle Fusion preferred; SAP or other ERPs acceptable).
* Fluency in English required; German proficiency is a strong plus.
