The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting for a versatile and motivated Warehouse Operative & Assembly Technician to join our team. This is an exciting and varied role that combines hands-on assembly with key warehouse and stock management responsibilities. You will be a crucial part of our operations, ensuring that our products are assembled to a high standard and that our warehouse runs smoothly and efficiently. We are looking for a team player who is also capable of working independently and taking initiative.
Key Responsibilities
1. Assembly & Production:
* Perform light assembly work, primarily constructing high-quality drawers and other furniture components according to specifications.
* Operate light machinery and use hand/power tools safely and effectively.
* Conduct quality control checks on assembled products to ensure they meet our premium standards before being passed to stock or dispatch.
* Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workstation.
2. Warehouse & Stock Management:
* Order Fulfilment: Accurately pick and pack customer orders, ensuring items are correct, undamaged, and securely packaged for delivery.
* Goods In: Manage the receipt of incoming deliveries, carefully checking goods against purchase orders and delivery notes. Report any damages or discrepancies to the Warehouse Manager immediately.
* Goods Out: Prepare orders for dispatch, assist with loading vehicles, and ensure all associated paperwork is completed accurately.
* Stock Control: Actively participate in regular stock checks and cycle counts to maintain inventory accuracy.
* Inventory Management: Assist in organising the warehouse layout, ensuring stock is stored correctly and is easily accessible. Report low stock levels to ensure timely reordering.
3. Communication & Teamwork:
* Communicate clearly and effectively with the Warehouse Manager, sales team, and other colleagues regarding order status, stock levels, and production timelines.
* Collaborate with the team to meet daily operational targets and deadlines.
* Proactively assist colleagues in other areas of the warehouse as and when required to ensure a smooth workflow.
The Ideal Candidate
* Previous experience in a warehouse, production, or assembly role is desirable.
* Experience with stock control, goods in/out, and order picking is a significant advantage.
* Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
* Excellent organisational and time-management skills; you must be able to manage a varied workload in a fast-paced environment.
* A natural team player but also self-motivated and comfortable working independently.
* Good verbal communication skills.
* A valid Manual Handling certificate is beneficial (though training can be provided).
* A forklift license (Reach or Counterbalance) would be a plus but is not essential.
* Must be reliable, punctual, and have a positive, can-do attitude.
