The Role
Leading Excellence in Manufacturing
As the Production Floor Manager, you will take full ownership of the factory floor‑from the initial machining and wood finishing to final assembly and dispatch. This isn't just a supervisory role; it's a strategic leadership position designed to optimise output and uphold the premium standards our clients expect.
Key Responsibilities
* Manufacturing & Process Oversight
o Maximise machine shop output and implement Lean principles to reduce waste.
o Synchronize machining and wood finishing with assembly and delivery schedules.
o Drive productivity and rigorous quality control across all production stages.
* Assembly & Team Management
o Lead and mentor a team of 8‑10 kitchen assemblers.
o Optimize floor layouts and introduce efficient assembly methods to boost productivity.
o Conduct performance reviews, identify training needs, and manage labour‑to‑output ratios.
* Logistics, Dispatch & Reworks
o Plan assembly schedules one week in advance to ensure "ready‑to‑go" status for all deliveries.
o Collaborate with the Logistics Lead and Fitting Supervisor to minimise snags and reworks.
o Ensure all cabinetry is 100% complete and quality‑checked before leaving the floor.
* General Site Leadership
o Act as the primary point of contact for all factory floor operations.
o Manage a total workflow involving approximately 25 staff across machining, benches, and logistics.
o Empower your team to deliver while maintaining site standards and safety.
Who We're Looking For
We need a leader who understands the "nuts and bolts" of kitchen manufacturing but excels in high‑level coordination.
Experience
Proven track record managing a joinery, furniture, or kitchen production environment.
Skills
* Strong delegation skills with the ability to manage cross‑functional teams.
* Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with CNCs, edge banders, and spray systems is highly advantageous.
* Methodology: Practical experience applying Lean manufacturing or similar improvement frameworks.
* Communication: Confident using digital systems, email, and reporting tools.
