Enhancing Customer Protection in Home Energy Services
The Commission for the Regulation of Utilities has published a decision on strengthening customer protection measures for household electricity and gas customers. The Commission reviewed existing measures and decided to maintain many while implementing two key changes:
* The debt recovery ratio on prepayment meters will be increased from 10% to 15%. This change aims to better protect customers with unpaid energy bills.
* Suppliers must clearly outline additional requirements when engaging with customers who may benefit from entering a repayment plan, ensuring they receive necessary support.
These enhanced measures are in addition to existing requirements outlined in the relevant industry handbook.
