Head of Finance – Focus Housing AssociationLocation: DublinContract: Full-time, PermanentThe overall objective of the Head of Finance role for Focus Housing Association is to lead the day-to-day finances of the approved housing body. Focus Housing Association is an approved housing body and a registered charity. It has attained certified body status with the Housing Finance Agency and is regulated by the Housing Agency and the Charity Regulatory Authority and is a company limited by guarantee.What You Will DoThe Head of Finance is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Finance team. The person will:Ensure the maximum performance from the members of the finance team.Ensure poor performance is addressed while strong performance is nurtured and encouraged.Take a lead role in the development of the team members.Preparation Of Monthly Management AccountsEnsure timely preparation of accounts (Minimum working day 6).Ensure accuracy of accounts and supporting schedules.Ensure analysis is complete and accurate.Ensure accurate and timely production and distribution of the departmental and project monthly management accounts.Ensure consistency between reporting, GL and other management information tools e.g. Affinity.Management Of The Annual Audit ProcessEnsure smooth completion of the annual audit.Ensure audit is completed on a timely basis to allow for AGM to happen in June.Liaise with internal auditors & implement recommendations where agreed.Management Of The Annual Budget ProcessTake the lead in preparatory meetings with department heads and managers.Ensure timely completion to allow Board sign off in November.Ensure accuracy and completeness of reports & schedules.Ensuring key controls are in place to safeguard the assets of the Organisation:Strong controls of Grants receivable including the accounting treatment and payment controls.Strong controls of Rental Income including the accounting treatment and payment controls.Strong controls of Fundraising Income including the accounting treatment and payment controls.Take the lead in cash control for the Organisation.Cashflow management and control.Suppliers process – ordering, sign off, invoice processing and payment.Asset & Liability register for all property assets.Bank Reconciliations.Proper accounting for accruals and prepayments.Take the lead role for costs control for the Organisation.Deliver Finance training workshops to Property & Development team as required.Prepare All Annual Statutory SubmissionsThe Housing Regulator.Housing Finance Agency.Bank covenant reporting.And other relevant authorities.Develop and maintain appropriate governance and controls to secure, manage and maintain the Finances of Focus Housing Association with the Director of Finance.Support all appropriate board sub-committees in their management, control and stewardship of Focus Housing Association with the Director of Finance.Manage and maintain the business case development for new property proposals with the Development team.Support the other members of the Property, Development and Management teams in achieving the objectives of the organisation including to carry out feasibility analysis for all property acquisitions and reviewing all loan applications.What You Will NeedMust be a qualified accountant with extensive accounts experience especially in fixed assets, loans, debtors and all aspects of reconciliations. Extensive, post qualification work experience essential.Experience in managing a team.A self-starter who must have been exposed to most aspects of accountancy and be able to deal with situations as they arise relying on their studies and experience.Strong people leadership skills and experience.Strong communication skills at all levels.Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.A strong team player.Ability to think strategically.Strong skills in prioritising and meeting deadlines and delegating where appropriate.Excellent working knowledge of Excel, Word and other accounting packages.Be trustworthy and conduct the role with integrity.Knowledge and experience of the property development, approved housing body and/or charity sectors would be a distinct advantage (Desirable).Knowledge and experience of the Charity and Housing SORPS would be an advantage (Desirable).Focus Ireland is an equal opportunities employer.
