Design Manager Opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled Design Manager to join our team. As a key member of our project management department, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management and coordination of all project design activity.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to work on a wide range of transport schemes, including civils/highways, rail infrastructure, urban mobility, and aviation. You will be managing projects across the UK and Ireland, working with internal and external clients, and collaborating with various stakeholders.
You will assume responsibility for the design process, ensuring that each design team fully understands scope, deliverables, interfaces, and related dependencies per stage between discipline. You will also be responsible for monitoring design process progress, implementing changes/variations to the design in collaboration with the Change and Project Manager.
* Manage the whole design process, including interface, coordination, and direction of Discipline Leads in terms of methodology and technical solutions.
* Ensure each design team fully understands scope, deliverables, interfaces, and related dependencies per stage between discipline.
* Hold full knowledge of contracted scope of work and deliverables per stage and per discipline.
* Monitor design process progress, implement changes/variations to the design in collaboration with Change and Project Manager.
* Evaluate design performance and ensure it supports client's key objectives and meets project specifications.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
* A minimum HNC/HND in a Building/Civil Engineering or related discipline.
* Preferably a chartered member of an appropriate construction-focused association or institute.
* Experience in a design management role in the construction industry, preferably within a multidisciplinary engineering design consultancy.
* Knowledge of National Infrastructure Programmes such as National Highway's Project Control Framework and delivery of schemes within their Regional Investment Programme.
* Knowledge of construction and the design processes.
* Knowledge of health and safety legislation, including CDM Regulations.
* An understanding of various types of procurement methods and contract administration requirements.
