About Kent-Athlone Pharma Group

With sites in the UK and Ireland, Kent Athlone Group manufactures and distributes speciality pharmaceuticals across the UK, Ireland, and international markets.

Our portfolio of products is diversified across multiple therapeutic areas with for example a focus on analgesics, hospital injectables and anti-infectives.

With a strong pipeline of new product development projects and potential M&A opportunities, the company is experiencing a period of rapid growth, and this trajectory is expected to continue.

Kent Athlone Group was created from a PLC divestment to an experienced Management team supported by Duke Street Partners who are a leading European Private Equity Group.

In 2022 a revised 5-year strategy, growth plan and additional investment has been agreed with the Board, driven by a strong focus on Business Development.

The Person

Role duties and responsibilities

The key responsibilities of the Key account Manager at Athlone Pharmaceuticals include, but are not limited to:

To implement the company's hospital sales and marketing strategy across Ireland, maintaining and growing business in the secondary care sector.

This is a standalone field-based position and working closely with the marketing and supply chain teams.

Deliver sales targets and KPIs for the hospital portfolio across Ireland.

Develop and execute territory account plans that support revenue growth, compliance, and long-term partnerships.

Build and maintain strong relationships with HSE Procurement, Hospital Pharmacy Leads, Clinicians, and Medicines Management teams.

Work with HSE and CMU tender processes to ensure continuity and compliance for Athlone's hospital products.

Identify and pursue new opportunities for Athlone's promoted and non-promoted lines within hospitals.

Provide clinical insight and product knowledge to support formulary access and brand advocacy.

Collaborate internally with Marketing, Supply Chain, and Customer Service to manage product supply and market shortages.

Maintain accurate customer records and account activity within the CRM system

Represent Athlone at Irish hospital meetings, conferences, and exhibitions.

Engage in regular team calls and development activities with the wider Kent Athlone Pharma Group.

Skills and Experience (E: Essential, D: Desirable)

Industry experience is essential and the desire to stand out in a fast-paced environment. You must have:

Proven pharmaceutical sales experience within the hospital or secondary care market (E)

Clinical background (e.g., pharmacy, nursing, or life sciences) (E)

Demonstrated success in developing key hospital accounts and achieving sales targets (E)

Excellent communication and relationship management skills (E)

Strong analytical and Excel skills; able to deliver account plans and data-driven insights (E)

Experience engaging with HSE Procurement and Hospital Formularies (D)

Knowledge of anti-infectives or analgesics(D)

Familiarity with HSE Medicines Management Programme (MMP) and Corporate Medicines Unit frameworks (D)

Experience with branded or generic pharmaceutical portfolios (D)

Education

Degree in life sciences, pharmacy, or business (preferred).

Ongoing professional development encouraged.

Other Requirements

A Driving Licence, valid to drive in Ireland.

Occasional UK or EU travel may be required.

Valid passport.
