Job Title: Examinations Officer
The Examinations Office is responsible for the strategic development and operation of Student Examinations in accordance with University policies and procedures. The successful candidate will be a key member of this team, responsible for managing the administrative functions associated with the Examinations Office.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage all aspects, roles and duties associated with the Examinations Office
• Supervise all staff attached to the Examinations Office
• Prepare detailed reports on Examinations
• Contribute to the preparation, development and implementation of relevant University policies and procedures, ensuring adherence to best practice
• Liaison with the University Executive, Senior Staff and Central Services Managers of the University and other staff and stakeholders as required
Requirements:
• Have obtained at least Grade D3 (H6/06) in five subjects in the Leaving Certificate Examination (higher, ordinary, applied, or vocational programmes) or equivalent or have passed an examination at the appropriate level within the QQI qualifications framework which can be assessed as being of a comparable to Leaving Certificate standard or equivalent or higher or have appropriate relevant experience which encompasses equivalent skills and expertise
• Experience in a post which indicates the potential of the applicant to perform the main duties of the post
• A thorough understanding of the overall workings of the University
• Project Management skills: to include strong organisational and problem-solving ability
• Excellent communication skills: Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate well orally, in writing, or via electronic means, as appropriate to audience requirements
• Ability to draft reports and a knowledge of the skills associated with this
• Excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage a varied and demanding schedule of competing priorities within tight deadlines
• Proficiency in the use of information and communication technologies including the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Outlook, Excel and Teams
• Know-how and skills in the use of IT and information systems generally
• Good analytical and numeracy skills
• People management and leadership skills and knowledge on how to support other staff in the performance of their functions
• Well-developed interpersonal skills, and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Exhibit discretion, tact, courtesy and sound judgement when dealing with students, academic staff, professional, managerial and support staff, external parties and individuals
• Ability to maintain data confidentiality at all times
• Ability to be adaptable and responsive to the varied and dynamic work environment which is necessary for the efficient operation of the Examinations Office
