Job Description: Temporary Public Laboratory Scientist (RPAL)
The successful candidate will be responsible for performing chemical analysis of various samples, including food, cosmetics, water, drugs, and sewage. The role requires the use of instrumental, classical, and molecular biological techniques.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Perform chemical analysis of samples using various techniques
* Participate in method development, validation, and system suitability testing
* Comply with ISO/IEC 17025 requirements and laboratory documented policies and procedures
* Perform calibration and qualification of equipment and instrumentation
* Participate in internal and external audits
* Report suspected non-conforming work or opportunities for improvement
* Investigate non-conforming work as delegated
Quality & Audit:
* Ensure compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 requirements
* Implement laboratory documented policies and procedures
Health & Safety:
* Comply with the Laboratory Safety Statement at all times
* Participate in risk assessments and identify risks
* Report incidents and near misses
Education & Training:
* Participate in mandatory training programmes
* Take responsibility for continuing professional development
Administrative:
* Familiarize with and implement all documented procedures and policies
* Make effective use of information technology
Eligibility Criteria:
* Hold a minimum of a Level 7 qualification on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ)
* Demonstrate requisite knowledge and ability for the proper discharge of duties
Post-Specific Requirements:
* Demonstrate experience in chemical analysis in a Public Analysts Laboratory or equivalent

* Demonstrate professional knowledge to carry out duties and responsibilities of the role
