We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Structural Engineer to join our Civil and Structural Team in Ireland.
About the Role
The successful candidate will carry out design work on power plants, HV substations/HVDC Interconnector converter stations, and HV cable projects, including project management, proposal writing, scheme costings, front-end engineering design (FEED), and detailed civil/structural design.
Key Responsibilities
* Project Management: Oversee project timelines, budgets, and quality.
* Proposal Writing and Cost Estimation: Write compelling proposals and estimate project costs accurately.
* Front-End Engineering Design (FEED): Lead FEED activities related to structural components.
Requirements
* Technical Expertise:
o Advanced Structural Engineering Knowledge: A deep understanding of structural engineering principles, including load-bearing capacity, material properties, and design codes.
o Proficiency in Structural Analysis Software: Familiarity with tools such as SAP2000, ETABS, or similar software is essential for modeling and analyzing complex structures.
o Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM): Knowledge of BIM technologies and their application to improve project visualization, coordination, and execution.
* Project Management Skills:
o Project Leadership: The successful candidate must be capable of managing structural engineering projects independently.
* Design Coordination and Collaboration:
o Multidisciplinary Collaboration: The candidate should excel in coordinating with other disciplines to integrate structural designs seamlessly.
* Attention to Detail:
o Drawing Preparation: Proficiency in creating detailed drawings for planning applications and tender packages. Compliance with relevant standards is crucial.
* Communication and Leadership:
o Clear Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for conveying technical information, collaborating with team members, and presenting findings.
Qualifications and Experience
The selected candidate should have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering. Relevant experience in structural engineering, preferably in energy projects, is highly desirable. A Professional Engineer (PE) license is advantageous but not mandatory.
