The role
I.T. Systems Administrator required in West Donegal for a technology and manufacturing company that exports to over 48 countries worldwide. They recently announced a multimillion euro expansion plan subject to customer demand for their high‑end products. We are looking for an IT Systems Administrator to support the IT Manager in the day‑to‑day running of the company's IT systems and services. This role is ideal for someone with a strong IT support and infrastructure background who is looking to further develop their skills across systems administration, cloud services, cybersecurity, and IT operations. You will support employees across the business, help maintain reliable and secure IT systems, and assist with ongoing improvements to the company's technology environment. You will be dealing with a wide variety of IT requests and therefore we are looking for a candidate with a wide breadth of knowledge in the IT sector.
Key Responsibilities
Provide IT support for employees across hardware, software, Microsoft 365, Active Directory and business systems.
Assist with user onboarding/offboarding, device setup, and account management. This includes internal and external clients.
Support and maintain desktops, laptops, networking equipment, printers, VOIP, servers and other cloud services.
Help monitor backups, system health, updates, and general IT operations.
Assist with cybersecurity best practices, access management, and IT risk assessments.
Support, edit and create IT documentation, asset management, and operational procedures.
Work with the IT Manager on infrastructure upgrades, projects, and continuous improvements.
Skills & Experience
Experience in an IT support or systems administration role (5+ years direct experience).
In depth knowledge and strong experience with Microsoft 365 Suite of apps and Windows/Apple OS.
Good troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
Knowledge and understanding of networking and cybersecurity principles.
Strong communication and organisational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Microsoft Intune, Entra ID, and other cloud platforms.
Backup systems and virtual desktop environments.
Cybersecurity compliance on frameworks such as Cyber Essentials & ISO 27001.
Programming or automation experience.
Requirements
5+ years' experience in IT support and systems maintenance.
A relevant third level degree is desirable but not essential.
A security‑conscious mindset and attention to detail.
A positive and proactive attitude.
Someone who enjoys solving technical problems and helping users.
A willingness to learn new technologies and develop professionally.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal and customer‑service skills.
Attention to detail with strong problem‑solving abilities.
Ability to provide two references upon request.
Ability to lift up to 25kg (e.g., servers, PCs, and related equipment).
Place of Work
This role is eligible to become hybrid after a successful 6‑month probation/training period. It is located in West Donegal.
