Excel Recruitment is proud to partner with a HSE disability team in Dundalk to recruit a committed Social Worker to join their team based in either Drogheda or Dundalk.
Job Purpose:
To provide professional, person centred social work support to adults with intellectual disabilities and their families, promoting dignity, independence, and equal participation in community life. The Social Worker will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to assess needs, develop care plans, safeguard vulnerable adults, and advocate for appropriate supports and services.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Carry out psychosocial assessments and develop individualised care/support plans in collaboration with service users, families, and carers.
2. Support adults with intellectual disabilities in navigating life transitions, such as independent living, employment, and community integration.
3. Provide emotional and practical support to families and caregivers, ensuring they are equipped to meet the needs of their loved ones.
4. Promote and advocate for the rights and welfare of service users in accordance with relevant legislation and HSE guidelines.
5. Participate in safeguarding procedures, reporting concerns of abuse or neglect and following up as per national policy.
6. Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders including disability support teams, primary care, day services, and residential settings.
7. Maintain accurate, timely, and professional documentation and case notes in accordance with best practice and data protection standards.
8. Contribute to service planning and development by identifying gaps in services and advocating for improvements.
9. Participate in team meetings, supervision, and ongoing professional development.
Essential Criteria:
10. Professional Qualification in Social Work
11. CORU Registration (essential)
12. Experience working with adults with intellectual disabilities or in disability services
13. Sound understanding of safeguarding principles, disability rights, and person-centred care
14. Strong communication, advocacy, and interpersonal skills
15. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
16. Full clean driving licence and access to own transport
17. Valid Garda vetting and overseas police clearance (where applicable)
