Title: Risk Officer

Key Responsibilities
Leadership of the Risk Management Function

Lead, maintain and continuously enhance EPIC IP’s Risk Management Framework.
Develop and maintain the Risk Appetite Statement and risk policies.
Provide independent second line of defense oversight across all risk types.
Ensure the risk framework remains appropriate to the nature, scale and complexity of EPIC IP and the funds under management.

Designated Person – Fund Risk Management

The CRO is responsible for the independent oversight of risks within the funds managed by EPIC IP.

This includes:

Risk oversight of investment managers
Provide independent challenge and oversight of delegated Investment Managers.
Monitor adherence to fund mandates, risk limits and regulatory requirements.
Attend oversight and risk meetings with delegates.
Fund risk monitoring

Oversee monitoring and reporting of:

Credit risk exposures and concentration levels
Market risk (interest rate, FX, spread, duration and volatility risks)
Liquidity risk and redemption coverage
Stress testing and scenario analysis
Limit breaches and escalation
Governance and reporting
Produce and present Fund Risk Reports to the EPIC IP Board and Fund Boards.
Ensure timely escalation of material risks and breaches.

Designated Person – Operational Risk

Lead the operational risk framework across EPIC IP.
Risk framework and oversight
Maintain and oversee the Operational Risk Register.
Oversee the identification, assessment and monitoring of operational risks.
Ensure the recording, assessment and remediation of risk events and incidents.
Maintain and monitor Key Risk Indicators (KRIs).
Conduct and facilitate risk deep dives and thematic reviews.
Risk culture and training
Promote a strong risk culture across the organisation.
Deliver risk training and awareness programmes.
Support staff in the management and escalation of risk events.

Outsourcing & Delegate Oversight
Lead EPIC IP’s outsourcing and delegate oversight framework.
Outsourcing framework:

Maintain and oversee EPIC IP’s Outsourcing Framework.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
Service provider oversight
Perform initial and ongoing due diligence on delegates and service providers.
Oversee the monitoring of service provider performance.

Ensure appropriate oversight of:

Investment Managers
Administrators
Depositaries
Other critical or important outsourced functions
Ongoing monitoring and reporting
Oversee service provider performance reviews.
Ensure outsourcing risks are identified, assessed and escalated.
Report outsourcing oversight to the Board.

Board and Senior Stakeholder Reporting

Prepare and present risk reporting to the EPIC IP Board and Fund Boards.
Provide clear and timely escalation of emerging risks and issues.
Support strategic decision-making through risk insights and analytics.

New Business & Product Risk Assessment

Lead the risk assessment of new funds, strategies and initiatives.
Ensure new products are consistent with EPIC IP’s risk appetite and capabilities.

Skills and Experience

Core competencies:
Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving capability.
Ability to provide independent challenge to delegates and senior stakeholders.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to operate effectively in a dynamic and evolving regulatory environment.

Knowledge and Qualifications

Significant experience in risk management within the asset management / funds industry.
Experience operating within an AIFM/UCITS Management Company environment.
Strong knowledge of:
Risk management frameworks
Fund governance and delegate oversight
Irish and European funds regulation
Professional risk or financial services qualification preferred.
Demonstrable experience engaging with Boards and senior stakeholders.
