Job Description Childcare Assistant 39 hours per week. Flexibility may be required.
The Childcare Assistant will be directly responsible to, and work closely with, the room leader and childcare manager.
The assistant will act as leader in the absence of the room leader and, at these times, will report directly to the childcare manager.
Duties will include
1. Supervision of children, ensuring safety and well being at all times.
2. Provision and set up of play/activities in a structured and child friendly way, with the aim of developing the children's physical, intellectual, social, linguistic, and emotional skills.
3. Overseeing the CE traineed employees, allocating daily duties and ensuring effective completion of tasks; helping to identify staff training needs and mentoring new employees and trainees.
4. Being responsible for the childcare environment which entails daily cleaning and disinfecting, ensuring toys/equipment/first aid kits/rooms are maintained and in good condition, reporting breakages/hazards, assisting in organisation and carrying out of monthly fire drills
5. Administration of childcare facility - registering children in/out of the centre, keeping/updating daily records (attendance, accident/incident book, children's record cards and observations, inventory of equipment etc.), dealing with parents when requested.
These are the childcare duties to be carried out on a regular basis.
Other duties may be allocated on an ad hoc basis – these duties may relate to the overall Lifestyle project (not childcare). Staff is expected to work as part of the general Lifestyle project and assist, when requested by management, in activities such as organising/setting up training, fundraising, food preparation/serving
