Deli Manager – Supermarket – Co. Waterford
Excel Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting a Deli Manager on behalf of our client's supermarket in Co. Waterford. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced fresh food professional to take full ownership of a high-performing deli department, driving standards, sales, and team development in a fast-paced retail environment.
Salary: €40k – €43k
Responsibilities:
1. Manage the daily operation of the deli department, ensuring smooth service and consistent food quality
2. Lead, train, and motivate the deli team to deliver excellent customer service and fresh food standards
3. Drive deli sales, margins, and profitability while maintaining strong control of waste and shrink
4. Ensure high standards of food preparation, presentation, cleanliness, and merchandising
5. Maintain full compliance with HACCP, food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations.
6. Manage stock control, ordering, rotation, and availability in line with store trading pattern
7. Plan production levels to maximise sales and minimise waste
8. Support recruitment, rostering, and ongoing staff training within the department
9. Work closely with store management to support overall store performance and targets
Requirements:
10. Previous experience as a Deli Manager or Senior Deli Supervisor in a supermarket or convenience retail environment
11. Strong fresh food knowledge with hands-on experience in a high-volume deli
12. Excellent leadership and communication skills with a proactive, hands-on approach
13. Proven ability to manage KPIs, margins, and waste control
14. Strong knowledge of HACCP and food safety compliance
15. Organised, reliable, and capable of thriving in a fast-paced retail setting
16. Flexible to work across store trading hours, including weekends
