Maintenance Planner Limerick
On behalf of its client, Kenny-Whelan is hiring a Maintenance Planner for a global life science company in Limerick.
Profile of the Role:
The Maintenance Planner is responsible for planning, scheduling, coordinating, and overseeing all maintenance activities within their assigned area.
Acting as the central link between maintenance workstreams, this role ensures alignment across teams. The Maintenance Planner serves as the main contact for the assigned maintenance crews, covering both Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) and Mechanical disciplines. Additionally, the planner manages maintenance tasks within the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS), ensuring all work is documented, compliant, and audit-ready at all times.
Description of Duties:
* Ensure all maintenance activities are performed safely, timely, and in compliance with the company’s LOTO system.
* Participate in continuous improvement and lean initiatives.
* Act as the point of contact for safety and quality-related questions from the craft personnel.
* Promote and enforce safety and quality standards within the maintenance group.
* Troubleshoot maintenance issues within the area of responsibility.
* Own the planning and scheduling (where applicable) of preventive and corrective maintenance activities to ensure completion as scheduled in the CMMS.
* Plan and document how work is to be completed.
* Ensure spare parts are available and liaise with engineering stores.
* Coordinate with various craft disciplines and vendors to execute maintenance activities to high standards.
* Ensure all work is documented following ALCOA+ principles.
* Update job plans to maintain accuracy.
* Schedule, chair, and attend meetings to ensure maintenance activities are properly scheduled.
* Serve as the technical adviser for the area of responsibility and escalate issues appropriately.
* Support other areas within the maintenance team and participate in projects and best practice initiatives.
* Investigate failures and propose solutions to prevent recurrence.
* Act as the first point of contact for craft personnel troubleshooting issues/queries on the CMMS.
* Manage craft allocation to respond to changing priorities.
Experience:
At least 3+ years of pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device industry experience in a maintenance role.
* Demonstrated willingness to collaborate with colleagues.
* Proven ability to work independently without direct supervision.
* Commitment to safety and quality in the workplace.
Education:
FETAC Level 6 or equivalent in E&I or Mechanical discipline.
IT Systems:
* Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite.
* Experience with CMMS is essential.
Occasional travel to other locations, conferences, or off-site training in Ireland may be required.
