DPD Ireland leads the field in next‑day parcel delivery throughout Ireland, with 36 regionally based collection and delivery depots and a state‑of‑the‑art central sorting hub in Athlone, Co. Westmeath.
Purpose of the Role
Transport Supervisor – Day shift and Night shift – Linehaul Team. The primary function is planning parcel transport between the hub, depots and customers efficiently, analysing data to plan resources and reporting to the Transport Manager.
Responsibilities
Develop forecasting models to predict freight volumes and staffing requirements.
Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and union labour agreements.
Monitor vehicle maintenance schedules and maintain road‑worthy vehicles.
Lead, manage and conduct performance reviews for the team.
Develop succession plans and cover holidays, standing in for the Transport Manager.
Promote company values in day‑to‑day activities.
Assist management of the transport operation, maintaining service levels within budget and operational targets.
Address disciplinary issues with staff on the shift.
Plan and coordinate employee training and development.
Conduct quarterly partnership reviews.
Manage all activities for international parcels and group correspondence, including responsibility for the service planner.
Experience Required
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in transport or logistics operations.
Proven supervisory or leadership role experience.
Qualifications Required
Diploma or equivalent.
Qualifications Preferred
Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management or related field.
Transport qualification / CPC in road haulage, transportation management.
