Junior Design Engineer

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
The main duties and responsibilities of the Junior Design Engineer are outlined as follows:
* Contributing as part of a team to the successful delivery of one or more projects, promoting a collaborative "one team" culture.
* Supporting the Design Team to ensure Health, Safety, Environmental & Sustainability standards, policies and procedures are developed into design solutions.
* Liaising with and coordinating internal and external design teams, consultants, and other stakeholders.
* Assisting in delivering design-related tasks across multiple projects, working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
* Participating in internal, client, and third-party design meetings, supporting coordination activities with documentation and action tracking.
* Liaising with the Digital Delivery Team to support the creation and development of 3D models and drawings.
* Assisting in monitoring design outputs against design deliverables and project programmes.
* Supporting the tracking project changes and updating relevant design documentation accordingly.
* Compiling as-built information to contribute to the development of the as-built models and drawings.
* Maintaining awareness of the latest standards and technology through continuous professional development (CPD).
* Undertaking additional project or design-related tasks as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
The main knowledge, skills and experience required of the Junior Design Engineer are outlined as follows:
Essential:
* Degree, diploma, or equivalent qualification in one of the following: Civil, Structural, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
* Basic understanding of engineering design principles and practices.
* Familiarity with design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks, or other relevant CAD/BIM tools).
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues from different disciplines and backgrounds.
* Well-organised, with good attention to detail and accuracy.
* Willingness to learn, take guidance, and develop professionally.
* Awareness of Health, Safety, Environmental, and Sustainability considerations in engineering design.
Desirable (nice to have, but not essential):
* Previous internship, placement, or project experience in an engineering or design environment.
* Understanding of design coordination and project documentation processes.
* Familiarity with 3D modelling and digital engineering tools (e.g., BIM).
* Knowledge of relevant industry standards, codes, or regulations.
* Problem-solving skills.
