Senior Instrumentation Engineer Job Description
This role involves overseeing the implementation of instrumentation for biopharmaceutical process and utilities systems, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems.
* Evaluating new instrumentation to ensure functional equivalence to existing devices.
* Collaborating in authoring and maintaining configuration specifications and standards for cGMP manufacturing instrumentation.
The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of common process and utilities instrumentation, including load cells, pressure transmitters/gauges, pH sensors, dissolved oxygen sensors, temperature sensors, mass flow meters, UV analyzers, conductivity sensors, TOC analyzers, and level sensors.
* Evaluating and specifying cGMP instrumentation for new installations and upgrades of existing equipment.
Additionally, the selected individual will serve as the technical subject matter expert for the site calibration program, providing guidance to the calibrations operations team and supporting regulatory body inspections and audits.
Key responsibilities include:
* Evaluating obsolete instrumentation for functional equivalence.
* Implementing corrective/preventative actions for existing instrumentation.
Preferred qualifications include working knowledge of process automation control systems, conducting troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex instrumentation and associated systems, creating and maintaining configuration specifications for cGMP manufacturing instrumentation, and assisting in the design review of equipment.
The successful candidate must hold a BEng/BS degree along with 5+ years experience for Senior Engineer level and 8+ years experience for Principal Engineer level. Experience with Biopharmaceutical Process & Utilities systems is highly desirable.
