Electrical Engineer - Power Electronics & Propulsion SystemsThis full-time position at our Shannon headquarters seeks a highly skilled Electrical Engineer with expertise in power electronics, battery systems, PCB design, and propulsion systems.Core Responsibilities:Design and develop advanced power electronics systems (inverters, converters, BMS).Create electrical schematics and design PCBs with EMI/EMC compliance.Develop and optimize propulsion systems (motors, alternators, ECUs).Build and validate test benches.Lead technical design reviews and mentor junior staff.Collaborate with cross-functional teams.Conduct failure analysis and implement design improvements.Support manufacturing and drive continuous improvement.Technical Focus Areas:Battery Technologies: Li-ion, LiFePO4, thermal management, BMS.Power Electronics: DC-DC converters, inverters, motor drives, power factor correction.Propulsion Systems: BLDC motors, alternators, ECU programming, power distribution.Test & Validation: Automated test equipment, data acquisition, performance characterization.Safety & Compliance: Functional safety standards, EMC testing, regulatory compliance.Daily Duties & Responsibilities:Design & Development: Circuit design (DC-DC converters, inverters, BMS), schematic creation (Altium Designer, KiCad), PCB layout (EMI/EMC, thermal), propulsion system component development, circuit simulations (SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink).Testing & Validation: Build automated test benches, develop test procedures, perform electrical testing (efficiency, thermal, EMC), analyze data, troubleshoot systems.Project Management: Lead electrical engineering aspects of projects, coordinate teams, manage timelines, conduct design reviews, ensure compliance.Technical Support: Provide guidance to junior engineers, support manufacturing, collaborate with suppliers, maintain documentation, participate in continuous improvement.Qualifications & Experience:Education: Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical/Electronics Engineering (PE license and industry certifications a plus).Experience: Minimum 5 years professional experience with hands-on experience in battery technologies, power electronics, energy storage, PCB design, test bench validation, and propulsion systems.Technical Skills: Proficiency with schematic capture and PCB layout tools (Altium Designer, Eagle, KiCad), circuit simulation (SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink), power electronics components, embedded systems programming, automated test equipment.Safety & Compliance: Strong understanding of safety standards, regulatory compliance, functional safety, and EMC testing.Professional Skills: Excellent problem-solving, analytical, written and verbal communication, teamwork, and project management skills.Additional Requirements & Soft Skills:Communication & Interpersonal: Excellent written and verbal communication, strong teamwork, leadership, ability to communicate complex concepts, professional presentation skills.Problem-Solving & Analytical: Strong analytical and critical thinking, creative approach, systematic troubleshooting, ability to work independently, attention to detail.Personal Attributes: Self-motivated, strong work ethic, adaptability, continuous learning, safety-conscious, cultural awareness.Work Environment: Full-time at Shannon headquarters, occasional travel comfortable in laboratory/manufacturingSecurity & Compliance: Understanding and compliance with company policies.Job Types: Full-time, PermanentWork authorisation:Ireland (required)Work Location: In person
