ICT Applications & Systems Operations Specialist (Grade 3)
Reports to: ICT Applications and Systems Operations Manager
Role Purpose
The ICT Applications and Systems Operations Specialist is responsible for the reliable operation, security, and continuous improvement of organisational applications and systems. The role provides Level 3 technical support, ensures backend operational stability, drives automation, and maintains compliance with business, audit, and regulatory requirements. The Specialist plays a key role in mentoring staff, leading technical initiatives, and proactively managing operational risk across availability, security, and change.
Key Responsibilities
Systems Operations
1. Support and administer Microsoft services including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, Intune, Power Platform, and related tools.
2. Manage and secure Entra ID/Azure AD, on-premises Active Directory, ADFS, Group Policy, Exchange, and SharePoint.
3. Lead system upgrades, migrations, and implementation of new solutions.
4. Automate processes using PowerShell, Power Platform, Logic Apps, and AI-driven solutions.
5. Own device management and onboarding using Microsoft Endpoint Manager (Intune).
Advanced Technical Support
6. Provide Level 3 support for critical systems and act as an escalation point for the Service Desk.
7. Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues, including vendor liaison where required.
8. Ensure issues are logged, tracked, and resolved within agreed SLAs.
9. Promote continuous improvement, learning, and service excellence within the team.
Governance, Compliance & Security
10. Monitor systems, logs, alerts, and maintenance activities.
11. Maintain technical documentation and training materials.
12. Ensure adherence to ITIL practices and internal governance policies.
13. Participate in audits and penetration testing and lead remediation actions.
Service Delivery
14. Maintain a strong customer-focused approach and high service standards.
15. Lead initiatives to improve operational efficiency and service delivery.
16. Support teams through technical and organisational change.
17. Collaborate with infrastructure, business, and operational stakeholders.
Required Experience & Skills
18. 10+ years' experience in ICT administration and support.
19. Strong expertise in Microsoft, Entra ID/Azure AD, on-prem Active Directory, and SharePoint.
20. Proven experience delivering automation at scale.
21. Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Qualifications
22. Relevant third-level qualification or equivalent experience (desirable).
23. Advanced Microsoft certifications (Microsoft, Entra ID, Active Directory, or related).
