Job Overview
A friendly, high‑quality GP role in the heart of Waterford. We are a well‑established, community‑focused practice offering a steady, varied GP caseload in a supportive, down‑to‑earth environment. Ideal for confident junior or experienced vets who enjoy first‑opinion work and value teamwork, autonomy, and balance.
Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities
General practice role combining consultations, routine surgery, medical workups, and shared emergency care.
Typically work five days a week between 9 am and 5 pm, with a shared 1‑in‑3 Saturday rota. Out‑of‑hours work is shared fairly within the team.
Minor sole‑charge responsibility from time to time, supported by a small, experienced team.
Clinic & Team
Compact, well‑equipped small‑animal clinic in the centre of Waterford City. Facilities: digital X‑ray, ultrasound, in‑house laboratory.
Team of two vets, two nurses, and three support staff. Calm, respectful atmosphere and strong relationships with clients.
Relationships with City Vets
Occasional cross‑cover or collaboration when needed, while remaining primarily based at The Pet Hospital.
Optional exposure to more complex cases at the sister practice.
Qualifications
VCI‑registered veterinary surgeon.
Confident routine soft‑tissue surgery and independent first‑opinion consultations.
Good communication skills with clients and colleagues.
Comfortable with occasional sole‑charge.
Not suitable for new graduates or those requiring close day‑to‑day mentoring.
