Position Overview

We are recruiting a Chief Engineer – M&E Services to manage and oversee all data centre mechanical and electrical system operations for our new facility in Dublin, Ireland. This role reports to the Data Centre Manager.

The candidate will join as construction finalises and will lead the mechanical and electrical services fit‑out, commissioning, testing, and start‑up procedures. This is a full‑time, permanent role with an attractive remuneration package.


Responsibilities

* Manage mechanical and electrical services maintenance for assigned facilities and assist in developing operating (OpEx) and capital (CapEx) budgets.
* Supervise technical staff, including direct employees, outsourced supply partners and external contractors.
* Act as the subject‑matter expert for mechanical and electrical services operations at the site.
* Assist with operations and maintenance issues, troubleshooting and problem‑solving as required.
* Own site mechanical and electrical services operational procedures and continuously improve preventative maintenance programmes.
* Develop and maintain effective building‑specific maintenance and safety procedure manuals.
* Coordinate maintenance efforts with change control, external service providers and contractors.
* Interface with the project delivery team to ensure commissioning and operational readiness for all Echelon delivery projects.
* Champion health and safety, identifying risks and implementing mitigation measures within the assigned work area.
* Maintain accurate M&E services safety files, drawing registers, operational procedures, asset registers and CMMS plans.
* Respond to emergency situations (fire, evacuation, equipment failure, etc.) and customer concerns.
* Implement and administer inventory control programmes and purchases for parts and supplies.
* Ensure compliance with applicable codes, legislation, and company directives related to building M&E services operation.
* Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

* Minimum 7 years of relevant experience, with at least 5 years within the data centre industry.
* Mechanical and/or electrical apprenticeship experience is essential; a Bachelor’s degree in an associated engineering discipline is preferred.
* Experience in new data centre/facility start‑up and commissioning is desirable.
* Direct experience managing data centre mechanical and electrical services and contributing to continuous improvement of site availability.
* Thorough understanding of critical data centre mechanical and electrical system infrastructure.
* Ability to comprehend, analyse, and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, safety files, and operational manuals.
* Proven experience managing data centre mechanical and electrical services delivered through either a directly managed team or third‑party service provider.
* Proven experience integrating new projects or services into critical environments, either directly delivered or overseen by third‑party project teams.
* Team player with a ‘can‑do’ attitude and demonstrated experience in enhancing maintenance services.
* Strong communication skills with proven experience providing reports and updates to key stakeholders, both internal and external.
