OverviewManufacturing Engineer at Ohshima Ireland Limited in Shannon, Co. Clare. This role requires someone from a fast-paced multinational background and involves close collaboration with production, engineering, and suppliers.
Responsibilities

Provide Manufacturing Engineering support to both customers and suppliers.
Support Production and the team in planning and designing new processes that are easy to implement.
Manufacture prototypes and validate products within specification with a view to upscaling to full product runs.
Identify and implement improvements to equipment, processes and methods.
Identify and drive improvement initiatives to reduce costs and improve on-time delivery.
Apply, maintain and improve lean manufacturing procedures.
Participate in developing processes and implementing a new ERP system.
Support the Engineering team to ensure task flexibility.
Ensure proper documentation of technical data generated for assigned projects/tasks in line with engineering policies.
Make recommendations on development of new products or services to enhance the offering to customers.

Requirements and Skills

Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
Lean Six Sigma certification or training (Green Belt or higher) is advantageous.
Knowledge of ERP systems (implementation experience is a plus).
2–5 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial engineering role.
Proven experience with process development, optimization, and improvement initiatives.
Experience in prototype manufacturing, testing, and validation.
Hands-on experience with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement projects.
Previous experience in equipment setup, troubleshooting, and production support.

Technical Skills

Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, tools, and methods.
Proficient in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for process or tooling design.
Understanding of quality control methods and statistical analysis tools.
Familiarity with root cause analysis (RCA), FMEA, and CAPA.
Knowledge of safety standards and regulatory requirements in manufacturing.
Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with production, quality, and supply chain teams.
Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Adaptability to support multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
Continuous improvement mindset with initiative to identify and implement changes.
